Prime Minister visits the exhibition of Vietnam’s scientific and technological achievements

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Government members visited and experienced science and technology applications that have been applied in many fields.

On the morning of May 15, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology held a ceremony to celebrate Vietnam Science and Technology Day May 18 and the 65th anniversary of the Ministry’s establishment. With the theme “Science, technology and innovation – Raising national status”, the event was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and representatives of ministries and embassies of the UK and Cuba. , Germany, Korea, USA, China, Italy and representatives of the European Delegation in Vietnam.

Before attending and speaking at the event, the Prime Minister and the delegation visited an exhibition of printed books and e-books that recreated the path of scientific and technological development, associated with the cause of building and protecting the country, create the future of the country.

The Prime Minister looked at a book in the exhibition area. This is a place to display typical documents in 5 fields: natural sciences; science, engineering and technology; medical science and pharmacy; agricultural science; social sciences and humanities. Among them, many books by authors have won the Ho Chi Minh Prize and state prizes for science and technology, such as Do Tat Loi, Dang Thai Mai, Phan Huy Le…

In addition, the exhibition also had a digital document area introducing domestic and international science and technology information sources invested in by the Ministry of Science and Technology to build and develop.

Organ transplantation is a field that requires the highest level of science and technology in medicine. Nearly 50 years behind the world, but with the right policies and investments in science, technology and innovation, after 30 years, Vietnam has caught up with the world’s level of organ transplantation.

Up to now, Vietnam has mastered technology and can perform difficult organ transplants. Proactively transplanting organs in the country has helped patients save 25 – 50% of costs compared to doing it abroad.

Currently, Vietnam has 26 organ transplant centers, of which 4 are active centers with outstanding achievements, such as Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Central Military Hospital 108, Cho Ray Hospital, Central Lung Hospital.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited a model of a biological organic sludge treatment system to generate electricity and produce organic fertilizer applied in the Central Highlands. This is the result of a research project of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology under the Central Highlands Program for the period 2016-2020. The technology received the HITACHI Award worth 1 million Yen for scientists with outstanding achievements in research and development in the field of science and technology.

Robots capable of communicating with humans from Truong Hai Group (Thaco) at the exhibition. This is an information support assistant robot researched and developed by the R&D Center of Thaco Industries. Robots are manufactured according to Thiso’s orders for use at shopping centers and convention centers.

The robot weighs 80 kg, is about 1.6 m tall, and has a maximum moving speed of 1.2 m/s in a flat environment. The robot is easily connected via dual-band wireless AC/G/N/B wifi port, USB and Ethernet.

According to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, science and technology have contributed about 35% to the success of agricultural production in Vietnam recently. Science and technology help the agricultural sector maintain a high growth rate, contributing to the overall growth of the country.

At the Hydrometeorology – Environment booth, the Prime Minister and leaders of ministries and branches listened to an introduction to the flash flood warning system based on satellite rain monitoring data and global rain forecasts. The system was transferred from abroad, then the General Department of Hydrometeorology improved, updated, and supplemented all local monitoring data and forecast data from high-resolution digital models (3km x 3km) with Vietnam’s local data assimilation.

The current system can provide detailed real-time monitoring and warning information of landslide and flash flood risks to the commune level, continuously updated every 10 minutes.

The Prime Minister heard an introduction to steel products produced on modern technological lines at the booth of Vietnam Steel Corporation.

The exhibition will last until May 18 at the Ministry of Science and Technology, 113 Tran Duy Hung, Hanoi.
